Minehead Second XI were at home to Cheddar in Somerset Cricket League Division Three on Saturday afternoon.

After Minehead won the toss and chose to bat first opener Jonah Hopkins showed the way with 46 runs at the top of the innings. However Hopkins watched three wickets go down at the other end before Braden Taylor with 10 came in and joined him.

Lewis Goodrum then came to the crease and made 16 before he was run out after which Rob Squire who remained unbeaten on 10 was the only other player to reach double figures as Minehead Seconds were bowled out for 105 in 22.5 overs.

The pick of the Cheddar bowlers were Jimmy Clark ended with three for 32, while Gareth Humberstone recorded the impressive figure of 6 overs 4 of which were maidesn 3 wickets for three runs.

When Cheddar responded opener Scott Harris made an unbeaten 65 to help the visitors reach 108 for three to win by seven wickets.

In Division Three of the West Somerset League Minehead A XI played Cannington. Batting first Minehead were all out for 121 in 26.4 overs, of which opener James Griffiths made 28.

Lower in the order Althaf Navas batting at number six made 16 while Ian Groves at ten made 22.

Pick of the bowlers for Cannington were Stephen King who claimed four wickets for 27 from his four overs, while there were two apiece for Dave Hoveman and Robert Marcus Coombs.

Cannington in reply reached 124 for the loss of one wicket a total that was based round and unbeaten 52 from Christian Cullum and 50 from Hugh Ogle.

On Saturday Minehead Thirds travel to play against Bishops Hull Seconds, while the Seconds are without a game.
