A KEEN brisk east wind met Minehead & West Somerset Golf Club Seniors last week when they played the Aggregate Stableford competition.

Although unused to the additional layers, there was some excellent scoring especially from Ash Stockley and Graham Smith who claimed first place with 78 points.

Second position with 73 points went to Dave Oatridge and Edward Frewin ahead on count back from Doug Hayhoe and Roger Read.

Unfortunately the weather washed out any golf on the Wednesday. However the medal competition off whites took place on Friday in far more benign conditions.

There was a large field and one of the early starters, Paul Thompson returned a nett 73 which held the lead until the two final groups came in.

Neville Parsons scored a 72 to come third, behind David Hannah who returned a 71. However, the winner on the day with 70 was Andrew Coward.
