WATCHET Bowls Club have six county champions followed Sunday’s finals day at Bath’s Bloomfield Bowling Club.

With Sam Steel having already won the Champion of Champions title, the club won all five all the finals they were involved in.

First up were Sam Steel and Neil Williams, who beat Pip Branfield and Neil Westlake from Clevedon to win the pairs, then Jack Groves beat Dale Taylor from Bath in the Under 25 singles.

The triples were won by Sam Steel, Luke Townsend and Neil Williams, who beat M Pratt, J Matthews and S Armour from Purnells, then Ryan Hooper won the men’s unbadged against K Hall of Burnham-on-Sea.

Finally, Sam Steel, Steve Hooper, Luke Townsend and Neil Williams beat R Withers, P Branfield, N Westlake and N Pearce of Clevedon to win the fours title.

The successes rounded off a season which the previous week saw Watchet clinch the Somerset County League title for the first time.

l Williton travelled to Victoria Bridgwater last Tuesday for their last friendly of the season and won 67-55 overall after sharing the rinks two apiece.

L Middleton, Dave Sully and R Mitchell won 25-13; T Gibson, L Lapham and H Poole won 15-11; A Wickens, P Gliddon and E Ferris lost 13-14; and S Huggett, S Every and C Thorne lost 14-17.
