WATCHET Bowls Club's first outdoor visitors of the season were Wellington. They came to Watchet to play a four triples match, where they found the home side in good form, Watchet winning by 25 shots.

Scores (Watchet names only): T Jackson, R McKay, S Waterma lost 10 to 25; M Binding, C Woodford, R Scott won 25 to 9; D Bramall, C Hall, K Knight tied 16 to 16; C Bendle, J Hutchings, A Knight won 27 to 10.  Watchet 78, Wellington 53.

Last Tuesday Victoria Park Bridgwater were the visitors to Watchet for a four triples match. Watchet also won this match by 42 shots. Watchet names only: K Knight, C Woodford, R Somerfield, won 25 to13, J Hutchings, R McKay, C Rendell won 28 to 12,  E Owen, C Hall,  A Knight won 19 to 13. T Jackson, N Wilkinson, S Waterman won 25 to 16, Watchet 96 Victoria Park 54,

On Friday Watchet Ladies travelled to Vivary Park for a three triples friendly against Taunton BC Ladies, where their home form deserted them. They lost by 12 shots. Watchet names only:  C Bendle, L Guest, K Knight lost 9 to 12, E Preston J Eling, K Warner lost 12 to 14; D Brammall, J Groves, P Perkins, lost 16 to 17, Watchet Ladies 37, Taunton Ladies 49, 

In the first County League match on Saturday Watchet B were at home to Somerton. Unfortunately, Watchet were a player short.They lost on two of the three rinks and overall by 21 shots.

Watchet names only: T Jackson, T Standing, P Keith, R Scott, won 26 to 11; C Bowden, H Saunders, A McKay, R Somerfield lost 14 to 23; P Preston, A Archer, R Beresford, lost 15 to 39. Watchet 55 (2 points) Somerton 73 (10). 

Meanwhile, they came from all corners of Somerset and Dorset as well as Devon to sunny Watchet on Sunday for the Dennis and Doreen Trunks Memorial Trophy for married couples. 

They all played four games of eight-ends and the final two places depended on shot difference.

In fourth place with six points and +4 shot difference were M & G Millard from Banwell BC, third were D & R Buckingham from Taunton BC with six points and shot difference of +15 points, second C & L Mead from Victoria Park with eight points plus 21 shots, and the overall winners were D & L Beard from Paulton BC, with eight points and a +31 shot difference,
