WATCHET Town will be looking to avenge a 2-0 home defeat by Staglegrove when the sides meet again in Taunton in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League on Saturday, February 14 (3p.m.).

Grove beat Watchet with two late goals in late December but the seasiders’ boss Nick Sully felt his side were very unfortunate to lose.

“They scored both their goals in the last five minutes - it was that close,” he said. “I thought we deserved to get something out of the game.”

Watchet have not played since they lost 4-0 away to Stockwood Wanderers more than a month ago.

They were due to play away to Stockwood Green in a league match last Saturday, February 7, but the match was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

“Stockwood informed us in the morning that the pitch was unplayable because of the bad weather,” added Sully. “It came as no surprise because we’ve had more rain than I can remember for a long time.

“My major concern now is that we are fully booked up until the end of April with games, so it looks very much as though we will be playing into May which is something we didn’t want.

“Cricket starts up then and we tend to lose players to the summer game. It’s nothing new.”

Watchet goalkeeper Jack Harding, who would have been unavailable at Stockwood, will play at Staplegrove but defender Josh Aspey will miss out because he cannot play.

Watchet go into the game bottom of the table, having had the only points they have gained deducted after pulling out of three matches earlier this season.

Only two matches were played in the Premier Division last weekend with Congresbury being held to a 1-1 home draw by Ashton & Backwell United, while Clevedon were 6-3 away winners over Stockwood Wanderers.
