CAN consciousness exist outside the human brain?
For more than 30 years, Exmoor businesswoman and scientific researcher Tracey Tripp has believed so, and that science has overlooked one of the most fundamental questions about human consciousness.
To challenge one of science’s biggest assumptions - that consciousness is created by, and contained within, the brain - Tracey has published what she calls her ‘Consciousness Energy Matter’ (CEM) theory.
She believes consciousness extends beyond our bodies as measurable electromagnetic energy that can, under specific conditions, become physical matter.
Tracey, who lives in Withiel Florey, says she is not a scientist.
She is what she calls ‘the why woman’, who never stops asking questions.
Her theory began with a mysterious event in 1989.
After a serious accident, her father, who was miles, away experienced an unexplainable ‘knowing’ which led him straight to her.
No telephone call. No information. Just certainty.
"That moment changed everything," Tracey said. "I have spent 30 years trying to understand how that was possible."
Her work draws on quantum physics, including Einstein's groundbreaking equation and the double-slit experiment - a foundation of quantum mechanics, which is claimed to prove that the act of observation changes physical reality.
“The heart generates an electromagnetic field 5,000 times stronger than the brain's, according to HeartMath Institute research,” Tracey said.
She believes this is the mechanism through which consciousness extends beyond our bodies.
Tracey explains: "This field is measurable. It is real.
"What if consciousness uses this field to extend beyond our bodies?
“What if that explains things science has dismissed as impossible?"
She believes her theory offers a framework for understanding manifestation, healing, intuition, and the mysterious connections between people which defy conventional explanation.
Tracey built a career as an award-winning sales professional while raising her daughter alone.
She conducted her research independently alongside becoming a motivational speaker and author of several books, including her latest ‘You Are the Universe: The Consciousness Code Behind Orbs, Manifestation, and Parallel Realities’.
Among her many talents is an instinct for a good business opportunity, which led her to create a line of eco-friendly candles, striking a deal with retail giant The Range, which now stocks Tracey’s products in its chain of UK stores.
Tracey started making candles as a relaxing hobby but has since grown the business to include corporate workshops and classes on making and selling specialist artisan products.
She encourages anybody with a groundbreaking theory to share it, regardless of scepticism.
"Germ theory was ridiculed for decades before it revolutionised medicine," she points out.
"The universe does not always make sense at first glance.
“Sometimes, the ideas that seem impossible are simply ahead of their time.
“I am not claiming to have all the answers.
“But I believe science has overlooked something fundamental.
“Sometimes, the biggest breakthroughs come from asking the questions everybody else stopped asking."
