SIR — I've always been a supporter of the efforts made by everyone behind the Minehead Eye in creating a safe local venue where our children can meet up either socially for a chat, use the various facilities available or take part in the many events that are held inside.
So I was pleased to see that far from sitting back, plans are afoot to add a new attraction to the venue in the form of a 'bouldering wall' (Free Press January 18).
Acknowledged as a brave venture given the current financial climate, I believe that the Eye deserves our support. It's certainly not expensive compared to other entertainments.
Its more healthy than staring at a screen for hours on end, certainly better than wasting money in amusement arcades, and surely demonstrates that anyone who complains that there's nothing for kids to do in our town isn't really looking hard enough!
