THE red ribbon proved the point when it was cut to open the new CLOWNS Scrapstore at the West Somerset Sports and Leisure Centre.

For the ribbon was threaded with recyclable, reusable objects such as straws, plastic drink bottles and rags.

All of these - and more - can be donated by companies, kept in the Scrapstore and used for creative arts and play projects.

Co-ordinator Kathy Morton will meet up with business representatives on request and discuss whether any of their companies' waste material can be used by the Scrapstore.

Such waste might include cellophane, buttons, plastic, cones, wood, lace, foam, willow and numerous other materials.

Kathy will then arrange for the waste to be removed, free of charge.

The Scrapstore was officially opened last Thursday by West Somerset District Council chairman Cllr Viv Brewer, pictured with Kathy, in front on the left, and CLOWNS Scrapstore supporters.
