Minehead has moved closer to being declared a Plastic Free Community.
In a scheme led by the Surfers Against Sewage charity, the town needs the support of more than ten businesses to secure the status.
Such businesses can become Plastic Free Champions by removing at least three single-use plastic items from their daily trading.
And three have just been presented with their awards for doing so.
The Beach Hotel, Channel Adventure and Salad Days and Holi Moli Beach Huts have each become Plastic Free Champions for their dedication in reducing single-use plastic.
And Alcombe Fish Bar, Stuart Lowen Butchers and Farm Shop, Dana’s Fish and Chip Bar and Exmoor Character Cottages have also signed up and achieved the goal.
That’s seven businesses of the ten needed to become and Pastioc Free Community.
Information on becoming a plastic free champion can be found on the Surfers against Sewage website or follow Plastic Free Minehead and West Somerset on Facebook.
Firms interested in signing up for the award should contact Surfers Against Sewage’ campaign leader for Minehead, Daniel Fitzgerald, at [email protected] or Tim Lyddon at [email protected].
