In response to the letter from Mr Baggott in last week’s Free Press, Doniford Farm Park has been part of the local community, delivering a facility for people to meet for food or drink and enjoy the outside space, with some of the best coastal views in the locality.

Many local people have enjoyed meeting there over the years in an area which otherwise isn’t served by any facilities for a few miles.

My family and I recently purchased Doniford Farm Park, having lived, worked and grown up in West Somerset for many decades.

We are looking to re-open the facility to provide a cafe-style eater serving quality lunches and drinks within a farm park envirnoment.

We will also look to work with local businesses and bring together local families, whether young, elderly or disabled, in an otherwise rural community.

Over the past six months my family has been working hard to transform the farm park to make it a thriving community hub for Doniford and the surrounding area.

We are looking to open in spring 2018 and will be open seven days a week from 9am to 6pm.

We are hoping to be able to offer private use of Doniford Farm Park from 6pm to 11pm for meetings or functions by prior arrangment, something that our local community is otherwise lacking for special events.

Living at Doniford Farm Park over the past six months has proved challenging but also rewarding as our plans, with the help of local friends and family, start to take shape, and I very much hope that our community will be able to share and make a thriving success in years to come.

I understand that change isn’t something that people take to well, particularly in communitites that haven’t changed for many years.

However, owning a rural business is a huge challenge and also an opportunity to create change but also ensure its success and optimise it fully.

I very much look forward to welcoming everyone to Doniford Farm Park in Spring 2018.

Annabel and Chris Cottrell, Doniford Farm Park, Doniford.
