SIR — I am writing in response to your report "Williton pavilion plan to be put to villagers" (Free Press February 15).

I am very glad that villagers will have the opportunity to let the trustees know what type of facility they would like to use in Williton.

I hope that this will be used to help put together a scheme that will be of use to everyone in the village.

It is about time that villagers pulled together to look at how a proposal will affect all of the village and not just a section.

Building something that is not suitable will be disastrous, as it might not be used very much and would then be difficult to maintain.

The report mentions having a room for 80 people - if the requirement of the village is for a room bigger than this, it might hinder the village from getting something larger elsewhere, as funders won't want to give money for something when there are other rooms in the village, even if they are not fit for purpose.

So whatever is put forward, a great deal of thought on the true effects must be considered.

My personal opinion is that a multi-purpose facility is put forward that will last and provide an opportunity for every single person within the community to have a use for the building.

So to the trustees, I would just like to say that I really do hope your end proposal will be derived from what everyone has informed you that they would like to use.

With this in mind, I hope that every household in the village has a good long think about what they would like to do.

Maybe you go somewhere outside of Williton for a club, hobby or interest and would like to see it taking place in Williton? Do you have a need for somewhere to hold family events such as a wedding reception or Christening? Is there something new you would like to see in Williton?

Please, please make sure you fill in your questionnaire when they send them out to you.

Mrs S Fisher,

Williton.
