It seems that the only transport available in Minehead last Sunday was of the two wheel variety!
I expected some disruptions to the local bus services due to the cycle races, but what developed was ridiculous.
l went to the bus stop in Bancks Street to catch a bus to my sister Teresa’s home in Watchet for a Sunday lunch.
A poster on the bus stop informed me that l should proceed to the stop at the West Somerset Railway station, which I did, hoping to catch the 11.30am service.

Family reunion as Watchet veteran George Lewis celebrates 100th birthdayA number of people where waiting, some with luggage hoping to get to Taunton station and a few elderly travellers.
The bus never arrived. Neither did the 12.30pm or the 1.30pm. No buses in sight.
A number of people were obviously angry and irate, and one poor man had to catch a taxi to Taunton as he needed to get to the airport.
Myself and other travellers went across to the tourist information centre by the station and the helpful lady there called the bus company. We were told the only stop for pick-up was at Butlin’s!
There was no information at all on other stops to inform the public. l find it disgusting that the bus company failed to take any measures to inform the public of any changes made to bus schedules.
By the way, l went to the Butlin’s stop at 2.30pm and alas, that didn’t show up!
