Wellington fire crews were battling against arson attacks on Sunday after garages in a nearby town were set alight.

Fire fighters from Wellington were mobilised and deployed to Wiveliscombe twice in one day to battle deliberate fires, prompting the Fire Brigade to caution residents to remain vigilant.

Crews were deployed after receiving reports of a fire outside garages in the Southgate area of Wiveliscombe.

Fire fighters discovered a blaze, which was said to involve furniture, next to a garage, and affecting a neighbouring garage.

Crews deployed a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze, which they deemed to have been started deliberately.
