SIR — Elsewhere in your paper [see page 5] there may be a photo of Kelly Creech, of Porlock, presenting a cheque for a large amount of money which is to be shared between Jean Cox, on behalf of a dementia charity, and Culbone Church. We certainly posed for it in a high (and cold) wind at Porlock Weir last Thursday.
I would like, through your paper, publicly to thank Kelly for raising the money by a sponsored walk from Porlock to Culbone Church and back. I am sure that the dementia charity will find it very useful, as will we at Culbone Church.
Anyone who has the care of a building will know that bits fall off from time to time, and other bits have to be renewed or repaired. For Culbone, this has been going on for about 1,000 years, and there seems no end in sight.
Although Culbone Church has an international list of friends and pilgrims, and is the focus for many walkers along the coast path, it still has to be cared for by a tiny, regular and faithful congregation - seven at the last count - and frankly we need all the help we can get.

Our grateful thanks go to Kelly and all those who sponsored her. The next time you visit Culbone Church you will be able to see and touch the improvements we have made through Kelly's generosity. Thank you, Kelly dear, from all of us at Culbone.

Rector,
