SIR — Further to the recent correspondence on the housing plan for Hopcott, I have now moved to the new development at Brackenfield in Alcombe and, similarly to Mrs Parnell of Clanville Grange, I find myself surrounded by other properties.

I prefer to have neighbours, it gives me a sense of security.

The best view in the world is not top of the agenda - we do not live in an ideal world.

Would it not be a good suggestion for Mr Elston and his followers to club together and buy all the land earmarked for future development - problem solved!
