WATCHET travelled to Mark Moor for the first time and in a close game came home with a winning draw.
Batting first on a spongey underprepared wicket, Watchet were in trouble at 80-7, during which Andrew Woodward had batted very well for his 34 before a bad bounce resulted in him being caught.
Once Adrian Gibb had finished his tidy spell of bowling Clive Strong started hitting out and he and Andy Pyne put on 55 runs for the eighth wicket with Pyne's contribution being two singles. Strong was caught and bowled in another powerful innings of 75. Ben Saddington joined Pyne and the last wicket pair had lifted the score to 156 at the close of the innings.
Mark also struggled early on in their innings as Liam Woolgrove took two early wickets and Ben Saddington produced an excellent piece of fielding to run out Lloyd and put the home side on 28-4.
Mark then hit out and Adrian Gibb and Tom Moxley put on 60 for the fifth wicket and with twenty overs remaining the game was evenly poised with the score on 88-4. Then Martin Strong came on to bowl and took the wickets of Gibb and Moxley in a tight bowling spell of 13 overs for 25 runs and the game finished with Mark 13 runs adrift with two wickets remaining.
Watchet: 156-9 (C Strong 75, A Woodward 34, D Stevens 4-33, T Moxley 3-34).
Mark: 143-8 (T Moxley 46, A Gibbs 23, M Strong 4-19, L Woolgrove 2-35).
Points: Watchet 16 Mark 12.
