WORKMEN on building sites are warned by police to lock up their tools after a spate of thefts in West Somerset. Last weekend, copper piping and fittings were stolen from a hotel under renovation in Church Road, Minehead. And workmen who left their tools overnight on an insecure building site at Periton Road, Minehead, last Wednesday found they had been stolen when they turned up for work on Thursday morning. Among the items stolen during the night of March 22-23 were electric drills, workmates and trowels. Police are asking builders to remove their tools from sites or, if possible, ensure that they are locked away. Anyone with information about thefts from building sites or buildings under renovation should contact Minehead police station on 0845 4567000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
