FAMILIES across the West Somerset and Wellington areas are being urged to sign up for a hedgehog walk and raise funds for wildlife this spring.
The walks, organised by The Wildlife Trusts, are specially designed for young explorers and cover three kilometres, the same distance a hedgehog can roam in one night.
They will take place between the end of March and end of April, timed for when the prickly creatures emerge from hibernation.
A spokesperson said: “This is your chance as a family, school, or youth group to explore nature, fund-raise for wildlife on your doorstep, and have fun doing it with your favourite characters from Timmy Time.
“From March 30 to April 30, little legs across the country will be taking big steps for wildlife in The Hedgehog Walk, a fun and family-friendly fund-raising challenge.
“We are on a mission to create more safe spaces for hedgehogs and badgers to thrive.
“That is why we are inviting families, schools, clubs, and learning groups to walk three kilometres and raise vital funds for nature.
“Sign up and your hoglet will receive a downloadable activity pack bursting with Timmy Time fun.
“It is packed with engaging resources to spark curiosity and help young wildlife enthusiasts learn how to care for the natural world around them.
“Whether you are toddling through the park, marching through the woods, or counting laps in the playground, every step helps build a better future for wildlife.
“You will get everything you need to fund-raise for the wildlife you and your little one love.
“By taking part, you will be helping The Wildlife Trusts work toward protecting 30 per cent of land and sea for nature by 2030.”
The Wildlife Trusts is a grassroots movement of 46 charities working together to make the UK wilder and ensure nature is part of everybody’s life.
