With reference to your lead story “It’s independent rule for Minehead” last week, we should not be surprised.

Most of the mainstream political party people seem to have deserted Minehead and be vying to get their snouts into the more lucrative new district council trough, where allowances have increased overnight. Quelle surprise!

No doubt the West Somerset electorate will recognise and vote accordingly in the district elections.
