MEMBERS of the public will have the chance to have their say on West Somerset District Council's plans for new offices and the possible sell-off of Minehead's Vulcan Road car park on Tuesday. The council has organised a public meeting at the West Somerset Community College in Minehead at 6pm. The meeting will be chaired by council leader Cllr Steven Pugsley and will allow people to air their views on a range of council plans relating to the location of the authority's new offices, speculative offices to let and proposals for Vulcan Road car park. The results of the public meeting will then be fed into a full meeting of the council on Wednesday August 10, when a final decision is due to be taken. Councillors have already recommended three potential sites for new council offices - Aquasplash, Williton and part of the Vulcan Road site. They have also called for more work to be done into the possibility of developing speculative offices to let - which the authority claims will attract high- paid jobs to the area - on part of the Vulcan Road site known as the Minehead depot. At a meeting last month, they also decided no more should be done regarding the sale of the Vulcan Road car park until further consultation - including Tuesday's public meeting, a telephone survey and 'focus group' discussions - had been carried out.
