A NUMBER of new exhibitors were welcomed to Bicknoller’s annual summer flower show as well as all the loyal and competitive local residents.

The flower show is the village’s longest running community event, having been started in the 1930s, and the committee also holds a spring event.

The high standard of entries was again maintained despite this year’s dry weather conditions which had made growing plants quite a challenge.

The show’s judges had to work to find the winning exhibits from the plethora of entries presented to them in the marquee.

The top tasting tomato trophy winner, Linda Puxley, had to beat 21 other entries to win her trophy.

One exhibitor, Chris Yates, took home a total of 10 trophies.

A show committee spokesperson said: “Congratulations to all trophy winners and a big thank you to all who helped set up, judge, steward, exhibit, and attend.”

The show provides an opportunity for newcomers to Bicknoller to meet their neighbours and forge new acquaintances and friendships.
