New by-election called in attempt to fill empty seats on Porlock Parish Council“The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service consultation was totally flawed and many members of the public were confused by the complicated and misleading questionaire,” district councillor Andy Milne, lead of the village’s protest group, told the Free Press this week.
He said that in the event of closure decisions, it was hoped to organise meetings with the protest groups of all eight stations affected by the fire authority’s “Safer Together” programme.
“The plan would be to support a move for a judicial review of the consultation process which we feel was unfair and did not present a true picture of the situation to the public,” Cllr Milne said.
“We hope that such a move will not be necessary, but it is only sensible to make preparations for the worst case scenario.”
