AN award-winning West Somerset food charity is on the hunt for a new treasurer trustee.
Current treasurer Su Sharrocks is preparing to step down from the West Somerset Food Cupboard after more than two years in the role.
Trustees chairman Katrina Midgley said: “We are incredibly grateful for the strong foundations that Su has helped put in place.
“As demand for our services continues to grow, appointing a new treasurer will help ensure we can continue supporting local people safely and sustainably.
“If you have finance or accounting experience and want to make a real local difference, we would love to hear from you.”

The food cupboard sent out more than 190 bags for Christmas, packed with a selection of festive products and food staples, and started 2026 with ‘bursting cupboards’ thanks to donations from supporters.
Team leader Sara Trigg said: “We had the most amazing response from recipients, so, thank you, you really did make a difference.”
Ms Trigg said it had been a busy start to the year and the donations had continued to flood in, including more than 500 boxes of Christmas chocolates which Butlin’s found were left over in the New Year.
She said volunteers had been distributing the selection boxes via ‘all our wonderful agencies’ to ensure families who did not usually receive such a special treat of chocolate could spoil themselves.
Ms Trigg said: “Thank you Butlin’s for thinking of us and not letting this excess from Christmas go to waste.
“Every box has been very gratefully received.”
A ‘generous donation of pancake mix’ was received from Morrisons for Shrove Tuesday, which meant all the charity’s Local Pantry members were able to enjoy making pancakes.
Pantry members also received apple cake ingredients and a volunteer’s family recipe dating half-a-century which had been used over the decades for Dunster Orchards celebration days.
Ms Trigg said Easter was fast approaching and the charity wanted to ensure all its families could receive the treat of an Easter egg.
She said: “Please can I ask that you add an extra egg to our donation baskets at Easter time.”
Ms Trigg also attended the second business breakfast networking event organised in Minehead by Amicus Law.
She said: “We would like to thank Amicus Law Solicitors for organising the event and inviting us along.
“It was a great opportunity to network with other local organisations and strengthen community connections.”
The food cupboard, which will mark its 20th anniversary next year, operates out of of St Michael the Archangel Church, Alcombe, and provides weekly emergency food parcels comprising items donated by local people.
They are packed by a band of volunteers, and delivered by a local agency supporting a person through a particular challenge, or directly by a member of the team.
The charity covers Alcombe, Minehead, Dunster, Carhampton, Timberscombe, Porlock, and the areas in between.
