VANDALS have struck again at a town’s public toilets which were forced to be closed at night for the rest of the winter because of daily damage.

Watchet Town Council decided in early December to lock the toilets before dark when the cost of repairs rose to nearly £1,000 without adding staff time.

Now, the Harbour Road toilet block has been attacked again with windows broken and a cubicle trashed.

A council spokesperson said: “This will result, again, in charges for repairs being taken from public funds.

“We would ask anybody with information on the acts of criminal damage currently occurring, to please pass this to staff at Watchet Town Council.

“We are working closely with police to ensure the culprits are apprehended as quickly as possible.”
