A MAN from Oxfordshire has been jailed for more than two years for sexually assaulting a young woman in Minehead.

Michael Goodbody, aged 23, committed the offence on March 3, 2024, knowing that the woman did not consent to his actions.

Goodbody, from Highlands, Tadmarton, initially pleaded not guilty to the offence, but changed his plea and admitted it during an appearance in January in Taunton Crown Court, which is currently sitting in the North Somerset Magistrates Courthouse, in Worle, while building renovation continues.

Judge Richard Shepherd jailed Goodbody for 25 months and ordered him to pay a surcharge of £228.

Goodbody was also ordered to register for 10 years with police after his release and was told he may be barred from working with children or vulnerable adults.
