FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze in a West Somerset village on Sunday morning (December 14) which spread from a car to a nearby house.
The vehicle caught alight in Lydeard St Lawrence shortly before 11 am and the flames spread to the adjacent property as an emergency call was made.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue (DSFR) mobilised fire crews from Wellington and Taunton to attend the incident.
They used a hose reel jet, two sets of breathing apparatus, and a positive pressure ventilation fan as they put out the blaze and a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.
The vehicle was almost completely destroyed while house suffered heat and flame damage to its outside wall, and some smoke logging to rooms inside.
A DSFR spokesperson said the cause of the fire was found to be ‘accidental’.
