YOUNG artists from Dunster First School put paint, pens and pencils to paper, inspired by the school's annual year four trip to the outdoor education centre at Pinkery. As part of the trip, the children spent time painting and drawing the scenery of Exmoor, finishing their artwork when they returned to school. The results were then shortlisted, with eight of the paintings put on display in the Minehead Office of annual trip sponsors Webbers Estate Agents. Over the past few weeks, customers and visitors to the branch have been asked to vote for their favourite painting and agency manager Kevin Prescott was on hand to present the prizes to the winners on Monday. First place went to Tom Middleton Smith with a picture of a bridge at Simonsbath, while Claude Mahlich was second and Connor Claydon third. Tom's prize was to have his picture professionally mounted and framed by Millwheel Gallery of Porlock. Headteacher Peter Hoyland said: "The quality of artwork was incredibly high again this year and it was incredibly hard to shortlist the eight finalists let alone choose the winner. "As a school we are very grateful to Webbers Estate Agents for their continuing financial support for our annual residential trip to Pinkery."
