A FARMER helped fire crews from three stations who were mobilised when a West Somerset barn full of straw caught alight.
The blaze broke out in an agricultural building near Stogursey shortly after 4.30 pm on Tuesday, December 23.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue (DSFR) sent firefighters from Nether Stowey, Taunton, and Bridgwater to tackle the incident.
The farmer helped with the use of a telehandler to remove straw from the barn and the firefighters used drag forks, breathing apparatus, and two hose reel jets to put out the flames.
A DSFR spokesperson said the cause of the fire was considered to be ‘accidental’.
