SIR — A big thank you is overdue to the gentleman who keeps Watchet free from litter.

Whatever the weather, he is out there working away picking up the litter that some residents and holidaymakers seem to throw around without a thought of what is going to happen to it.

Watchet town centre is kept clean and tidy because of his pride and conscientious attitude towards his work, a rare thing these days. The other day he was weeding the edges of Goviers Lane.

Maybe the council will reward this conscientious worker like Mr Goodchild - and why not? He does an excellent job and everyone benefits.

On occasions he has been seen in Minehead and Blue Anchor but Watchet benefits greatly from his hard work.

Well done and thank you for looking after Watchet for us all.
