KIND-HEARTED West Somerset shoppers were among Tesco customers who have been thanked for donating some of the more than 800 toys given to children in the run-up to Christmas.

The Minehead Tesco joined a Christmas toy donation campaign to ensure that local children, who might otherwise not receive a gift, would not miss out on some festive magic.

Customers responded enthusiastically, with 834 brand-new toys donated to in-store donation points across the county.

The gifts were then given to local organisations to distribute to children in need for Christmas Day.

Tesco head of communities Claire De Silva said: “We really cannot thank our customers enough for their kind contributions to our toy donation campaign.

“They have made a lot of children very happy.”
