A PERILOUS 40-yard zip wire, best dressed teddy and child and a mass of cakes helped to raise almost £400 towards the upkeep of Dunster Packhorse Playground.
This boost to funds will help a small group of people to look after and maintain the volunteer run village facility and keep it open for children to enjoy.
The fun and games took place at the third annual Teddy Bears Picnic, which took place at the playground last Sunday (August 7).
Youngsters were invited to take along their favourite teddies for the high speed zip wire challenge, both teddies and owner’s best dressed competitions, face painting and a host of traditional games such as Hook-a-Duck, Treasure Hunt and Search Trail.
As probably her last ‘official’ duty’, the best dressed child was judged by parish clerk Jill Demirtges who is retiring after 25 years in the post.
An artistically decorated Teddy Bear Picnic cake was supplied by t5he village’s Luttrell Arms Hotel for the raffle.
The Dunster Packhorse Playground committee would like to thank everyone who generously donated homemade cakes and gave their time to make the event such a success, and the many visitors who turned up to support the playground.
The small playground committee urgently needs more help in maintenance and fundraising. Anyone able to help is asked to phone 01643 822112.
