Primary school teacher Helen Bray, who lives in Minehead, is urging people to join hundreds of others in an Around the World in 79 Days challenge.
The virtual event sees teams walk, run, cycle, dance or take part in fitness classes to complete the event.
Single mum Helen is taking part as Helen’s Fire Crackers with children Charlie and Lorena.
The Around the World challenge was the idea of Helen’s friend Jez Tromans who wanted to help lift spirits during the Covid-19 lockdown.
More than 300 people have joined in so far, raising funds for Unicef UK to help with its efforts to provide vaccine and PPE to health care workers and vulnerable people throughout the world, especially in poorer countries.
But Helen said: “It’s nice to raise some money but it’s more about taking part.
“You can join the Around the World in 79 Days Facebook group for inspiration plus the free online classes which include yoga, karate for kids, Dancefit, BoxFit, pilates and BodyFit – 15 minutes of a fitness class is the equivalent to one mile.”
Participants can be of any age and opt to do 30 days, 60 days or the full 79 days and choose their distance – and then log in daily to add their miles.
