YEAR 11 students at West Somerset College celebrated yesterday (Thursday) when they received their GCSE results.

Some 88 students achieved grade 7 – the equivalent of an A-grade – or above in at least one subject.

Outstanding results were achieved by: Charlie Kellet – nine grade 9s; Jack Lancaster – nine grade 9s; Abbie Furse – six grade 9s, two grade 8s and a Distinction; Kez Elston – eight grade 9s and Distinction*; Amber Lintern – six grade 9s and two grade 8s; William Lake – five grade 9s, grade 8, two grade 7s and a grade 6; Isaac Blazey – five grade 9s, three grade 8s and a grade 7; Jack Webber-Hesp – grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and two grade 7s.

College headteacher Gregg Mockridge said: “We are really proud of all of our students’ results which demonstrate their exceptional ambition and resilience. Students at West Somerset College undertook full exam-style assessments in all subjects and can continue in their education in the knowledge they have received a robust reflection of their ability. We are looking forward to the large number of Year 11s returning to study in the sixth-form with us in September and wish future success to all of our Year 11s.”
