MINEHEAD Gardening Club held its AGM and Spring Show on Friday March 25.
Experienced guest judges Jim and Kath Moon inspected an colourful array of floral and edible entries across 13 categories.
These included spring bulbs, flower arrangements, cakes and savouries. A close contest saw Christine Paine crowned the overall winner, with Jaynie McGuinness a worthy runner up, and Derek Blay taking third.
Earlier in the evening, Rachel Hill was awarded the trophy for most points amassed over 10 months of members’ competitions.

The AGM provided the opportunity to thank outgoing vice chair, Derek Blay, for his vital contribution to the club and committee over many years, and to officially welcome Anne Lawton as chair.
The guest speaker for next month’s meeting on Friday April 29, is Greencombe Gardens’s Robert Schmidt. The £12 annual subscription for members is due at this meeting; covering 10 meetings and a convivial Christmas party. Meetings start at 7.30pm and are held at Sacred Heart Church Hall on Townsend Rd. Guests and visitors are most welcome, and pay £2 per meeting.
