She was assisted by parish council vice-chairman Robert McDonald, who is also chairman of the Royal British Legion in Somerset, and Williton Royal British Legion chairman Bert Pearson.
The funding for the area came from West Somerset Council via S106 money.
The ceremony was followed by a coffee morning organised by the Royal British Legion Women’s Section, with the money raised going to this year’s Poppy Appeal.
