SIR — In reply to the letter concerning the ongoing saga over the paving slabs in Dunster (Free Press May 29), I agree with the writer, "AMS" – it will cost more to change them than it is worth. The walking surface for most people is a lot better – although cobbles were used years ago, the new slabs make it easier for people with walking difficulties. There is no way of telling how the money saved by not replacing the slabs would be used, but with the restrictions on all councils, it would be better to save it and not waste it. There are a lot of villages which would have liked some of the money spent in Dunster spent on their pavements, so be grateful and keep what you have got. Edwin May, Tower Hill, Williton.
