COWBRIDGE Sawmill and Forge, Timberscombe, is open to the public today and tomorrow as part of the National Heritage Open Days.
The mill dates from the 14th century and has been restored as a working heritage sawmill by the owner, Owen Rush, with the help of a growing band of volunteers.
Viewed from the A396, passers-by will find the mill and mill yard quite unimpressive. But the outward appearance gives no hint of the exciting developments taking place inside.
In addition to the restoration of the 14ft water wheel and the working mill machinery, the site also displays a wide range of agricultural machinery and tools.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view the ambitious development taking place.
Attractions over the weekend will include blacksmiths working in the forge and woodturning in the workshop. Guided tours will be available from 11am to 4.30pm each day.
Tea, coffee and cakes will be available. There is no need to book. Parking and admission are free but donations would be much appreciated. Cowbridge Sawmill is two miles from Dunster at the junction of A396 and Wootton Courtenay Road.
