WESSEX Water has unveiled plans to improve the experience for visitors at Clatworthy Reservoir.
Located on the edge of Exmoor National Park in the Brendon Hills, the reservoir offers a beautiful landscape for walks and connecting with nature.
After consulting with local communities and reservoir users, Wessex Water aims to make Clatworthy more accessible for all and improve the quality of facilities – particularly the viewing area.
Work will include creating a welcoming arrival for visitors by improving the entrance, enhancing the car park with segregation of pedestrians and vehicles, better access for those with mobility issues and updating toilet facilities.
A tap water refill point will also be installed, along with new tables and benches for people of all mobilities. Shelters will be used by education groups taking part in outdoor activities, with a small selection of play equipment for younger visitors.
Kirsty Scarlett, Wessex Water’s head of community engagement, said: “Set in beautiful surroundings and within areas of ecological and geological importance, it is vital that the reservoir is conserved while also being enjoyed by local people and visitors.
“Through our community user group, development of Integrated Management Plans and partnership working with local groups, we will continue to ensure the reservoir is an enjoyable and sustainable place to visit.”
