I have just spent many hours searching Minehead properties online, coming up with a shortlist that was most promising.
I felt really good, with certain plans to make appointments to view in the morning. Everything I wanted for a peaceful and enjoyable retirement in a lovely environment was there.
For some reason, I googled Minehead Noise, expecting to see the odd comment about the hooting of steam trains.
What I read about the thumping base, audible across town in the small hours, from events at Butlin’s, and the local authority’s failure to act to protect residents against these abuses, means that I have now rejected all ideas of buying in Minehead.

Regrettably, local house sellers have lost one potential buyer, and I am back at square one.
