SIR — Amnesty International exists to improve human rights in the UK and around the world.
The Minehead Amnesty International Group believes that all parliamentary candidates should undertake to keep human rights at the centre of Government policies.
We believe that the candidates should be asked to do everything in their power to ensure that:
* The human rights framework in the UK is protected.
West Somerset MP Rachel Gilmour wants to talk 'tidal lagoon' with Prime Minister
Still no licence from Natural England to bring back white-tailed eagles to Exmoor
Trust running nine West Somerset Schools to merge with larger education partnership
Williton young farmers raise record £2,500 from charity carol singing evenings* Women's rights are respected in the UK and overseas.
* Counter-terrorism measures do not undermine human rights.
* The debate on asylum and immigration is conducted sensibly and does not pander to the prejudices of those with extreme views.
* Government prioritises the reduction of the unacceptably high levels of maternal mortality worldwide.
