PORLOCK Community came together to put on a seasonal musical, raising £336.51 for Crisis at Christmas, a charity supporting the homeless and vulnerable.

Children from Messy Church and from St Dubricius First School joined members of Porlock Church to put on Papa Panov.

The musical, based on a book by Leo Tolstoy, describes a kindly Russian shoemaker (Colin Norris, who sang almost throughout).

He spends Christmas Eve helping others while looking out for Jesus but is disappointed - until Jesus tells him he was those people he helped.

Oliver Kelham sang In a Bleak Midwinter unaccompanied, Charlotte Kelham played the harp and Porlock handbell ringers took part in the candlelit church.

The show was the idea of director Daphne Midwood.
