A BIG clean-up is planned for two local beaches this weekend (November 7-8) - and the organisers are hoping that anyone who enjoys a stroll along the sand at Porlock Weir or Blue Anchor will come along.

The challenge is not only to help pick up rubbish, but keep an eye open for anything that can be reused and recycled.

It is part of a nation-wide ‘Autumn Beach Clean’ organised by Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) which will involve 160 beach-cleans around the country.

Under 16s should be accompanied by an adult and protective gloves should be worn – they can be borrowed if necessary.

Adam will lead the Porlock Weir clean-up from 10.30am -12.30pm tomorrow (Saturday). Volunteers will meet in the car park and there is free tea, coffee and cake afterwards in the Bottom Ship.

Volunteers for the Blue Anchor clean-up, led by Beth French from 10am to 12.30pm on Sunday, should meet outside the Driftwood Café.
