A TELEVISION audience was given a glimpse on Monday (December 15) of this year’s Dulverton Exmoor Literary Festival when a documentary aired on Sky.
The satellite broadcaster produced a programme on the controversy surrounding the best selling book ‘The Salt Path’, which has also been turned into a film.
The documentary included film of The Observer investigative journalist Chloe Hadjimatheou speaking to a sell-out festival audience in Dulverton.
‘Salt Path’ author Raynor Winn had been booked for the festival to talk about her latest book ‘On Winter Hill’ but pulled out after publication of an exposé by Ms Hadjimatheou, who then took her spot.
Festival organiser Ali Pegrum said: “Those of you who were in Dulverton’s All Saints Church on the festival Saturday, November 15, will know that Centaur Productions were filming throughout the talk for Sky Documentaries.
“In fact, I have heard that the part of the documentary filmed in Dulverton plays a really dynamic and important moment in the film.
“I also understand that many members of the audience gave short interviews during the afternoon, voicing their opinions on the book and Chloe’s subsequent article.
“Many of these will be featured in the finished film.”
Ms Pegrum said the Sky documentary would remain on the company’s online platform for viewing.
She said: “Do please watch the documentary and draw your own conclusions.
“If you do not have Sky, I believe it might also be available on NOW.”
‘The Salt Path’ tells the supposedly true story of how Raynor and Moth Winn lost their home and livelihood while Moth was diagnosed with a terminal disease.
They set out almost penniless to walk the South West Coast Path from Minehead, during which Moth appears to be almost cured.
Ms Hadjimatheou’s article investigated allegations of financial misconduct and the nature of the ‘terminal’ illness, defended by Ms Winn as ‘mistakes’.
