THE Minehead and area Singing for the Brain group delighted passers-by in Wellington Square on Monday morning with an hour of pop-up singing.

The group was out in the sunshine to launch Dementia Awareness Week.

As volunteers chatted to shoppers and visitors, they found that almost everyone they spoke to knew someone who had dementia.

The pop-up singing demonstrated how strongly song remains, even when memory goes and that, while the condition presents huge problems both for people living with dementia and for their carers, it does not have to mean an end to enjoyment.
