THE MP for Tiverton and Minehead says representing her constituents is “the honour of her life” as she celebrates her first year in office.

MP Rachel Gilmour was elected on July 4, 2024, as one of five candidates, winning a 3,507 vote majority to the Conservative candidate Ian Lidell-Grainger.

Reflecting on the last year, Ms Gilmour said she is “so proud of the work that I have been able to start on [the constituents] behalf.”

She added: “Whether it is fighting for better SEND provision in our schools, pushing the Government to drop its war on the countryside, or holding the DWP to account on their failures, I have been busy in Parliament and in the constituency, standing up for you.

“This is only the start, however. I am more passionate than ever about championing our area, and, with the help and engagement of constituents in Tiverton and Minehead, I can continue to do that.

“It is the honour of my life to be your Member of Parliament, and my team and I will continue to strive to be worthy of that privilege and up to the responsibility.

“What I value most about my role is the time I have spent with you, my constituents. Whether you’ve come to one of my surgeries, spoken with me on your doorstep, approached me in the street to offer me your thoughts, or written to me directly, I am grateful for the trust and openness you’ve shown me.”

Ms Gilmour will be beginning her summer tour, visiting area constituents, on Saturday, July 12, beginning in Nynehead from 3pm until 4pm. She will later stop at Watchet Phoenix Centre on July 19, Uffculme Magelake Hall on August 2, Dulverton Town Hall on August 8, and Porlock Village Hall on August 9.
