Police have said a man who they were looking for in connection with an incident at Musgrove Park Hospital "committed no offence."

In June Avon and Somerset Police published a picture of a man and appealed for the public to help them identify him after an alleged shoving incident at Musgrove Park Hospital.

Officers identified the individual and spoke with him, but concluded that no criminal offences were committed before closing the case.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We issued a CCTV appeal to identify an unknown man as part of an ongoing investigation into a welfare concern for a child at Musgrove Park Hospital.

“As with all appeals, we always consider the necessity and proportionality of issuing an image showing someone we want to speak to in connection with an investigation.

"Thanks to the public's help, the man was identified and we’ve now spoken with him. Following our investigation, it’s been concluded that no criminal offences were committed, but officers have given words of advice. The initial call to the police was made with good intent.

"We’d like to thank the public for helping with our appeal."

The appeal was launched after hospital staff said they witnessed an unknown man shouting, before pushing a child, on Saturday, June 24.
