ROAD safety was the order of the day at Minehead First School when pupils enjoyed a host of activities for their annual Road Safety Day.

They carried out a range of fun activities about being safe on the roads, under the guidance of PC Mark Curran and PCSO Katherine Williams from Minehead Police Station, who worked with every class in the school during the day.

Now the children are taking part in a special Minehead First School competition, organised by the officers, to design road signs for the school.

The winning designs will be made into proper signs and displayed on fences, to remind parents never to park or stop on the zig zag lines outside school.

Keith Mansell, headteacher at Minehead First School, said: “We had a really great day. The children had fun and were made fully aware of the importance of road safety.”
