PUBLIC notices cover a number of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks, and other works.

Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities.

Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Somerset Council for the West Somerset and Exmoor areas.

New speed limits on the A39

Notice has been given by Somerset Council to introduce a 30mph and a 40mph speed limit on A39 Minehead to Williton Road.

The council say the purpose of these speed limits is for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising. Another purpose for their introduction has been due to parish council requests for the safety of the local community, residents and visitors.

The 30mph speed limit will be implemented on the A39 Minehead to Williton Road by Old Cleve, from a point 21 metres northwest of its junction with Dragons Cross to Old Cleeve for a distance of 118 metres.

The 40mph speed limit will be put in place on A39 Minehead to Williton Road by Carhampton, from a point 133 metres northwest of its junction with Winsors Lane for a distance of 540 metres.

A 40mph speed limit will also be put in place on B3191 Eastbury Hill, Carhampton, from a point 167 metres east of its junction with Church Lane for a distance of 810 metres.
