FAMILY and friends of a Minehead businessman and former local councillor who helped save the lives of four people following his sudden and unexpected death last weekend have launched a campaign for more people to sign up as organ donors.

Simon Stokes had fought back from a brain aneurysm last December and was making remarkable progress on the road to recovery when he had a second and this time catastrophic bleed last Saturday.

The 56-year-old died the following evening but four of his major organs – heart, kidneys, pancreas and liver – were offered for life-saving transplants.
