Minehead Community Orchestra celebrated its tenth anniversary by holding an informal concert for family and friends in The Avenue Methodist church hall.

The orchestra was founded by David Pitts on January 25, 2012, and was originally known as The Alcomber’s Orchestra.

The orchestra is now ably led by Emily Feldberg, who swapped her cello for the baton. Emily told the audience that recent additions to the orchestra had helped add balance and this certainly seemed to be the case on the night.

The repertoire was varied and ranged from Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony to Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, and was played with skill and sensitivity.

Refreshments were enjoyed after the concert and original member and orchestra administrator Anne Gibson was given the honour of cutting the birthday cake.
